Participants at a meeting in Paktia Province in the east of the country on Monday, attended by Neda Mohamamd Nadim, the Taliban’s minister of higher education, were prohibited from filming or making audio recordings, sources told Amu.

The meeting, held at Paktia University, imposed strict restrictions on any form of recording. “We were not allowed to film or record anything during the session,” said one participant, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The ban comes just days after a similar restriction was enforced during the minister’s visit to Khost Province, where journalists were barred from filming a session at Sheikh Zayed University. These limitations were again imposed on Monday during Neda Mohammad Nadim’s visit to Paktia.

According to the source, no journalists were invited to the event, which took place in the university’s sports hall. Additionally, video displays in the hall were turned off upon the minister’s arrival.

During his speech, Nadim discussed the value of various academic fields but made no mention of journalism or literature. He also emphasized the enforcement of directives issued by the Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice.

This visit comes as the Taliban continue to tighten media restrictions, recently halting local television broadcasts in Takhar Province following the implementation of new regulations.
