KABUL — Jawed Momand, a university professor and political analyst, has been detained by the Taliban since Saturday, Oct. 19, according to sources close to him.
The sources reported that Momand was arrested by Taliban intelligence agents early Saturday morning in the Karte Naw district of Kabul.
Taliban have yet to comment on his detention.
Momand’s arrest comes amid a broader crackdown by the Taliban, who have detained several public figures in recent weeks, including two political analysts, two religious scholars, and a former member of parliament.
