JERUSALEM — An Israeli military base near Binyamina in northern Israel was struck by a drone attack early Monday, killing four soldiers and leaving seven others severely injured, according to Israel’s military.
Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed group based in Lebanon, claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that it targeted a camp of the Israeli military’s Golani Brigade with a “swarm of drones.”
The strike, which occurred on Sunday, also wounded at least 60 people in the town of Binyamina, as reported by Israeli emergency services.
The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah reignited last year when Hezbollah began launching rockets at Israeli positions in support of Hamas at the onset of the Gaza war. Tensions have sharply escalated in recent weeks, further intensifying the ongoing hostilities between the two sides.
