Israeli military warns of consequences after Iranian missile strike

Israel’s military has warned that Iran’s missile attack on Tuesday was “serious” and would lead to consequences, though officials declined to specify how or when Israel would respond.

Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, Israel’s military spokesperson, said there were no reported casualties from the missile barrage, which struck areas in the center and south of the country.

“We are on high alert both defensively and offensively,” Hagari said during a televised address. “We will defend the citizens of the State of Israel. This attack will have consequences. We have plans, and we will act at the place and time of our choosing.”

Iran launched the ballistic missile salvo in retaliation for Israel’s ongoing military campaign against Tehran’s ally, Hezbollah, in Lebanon. Alarms were triggered across Israel, with explosions heard in Jerusalem and the Jordan Valley. Israelis sought shelter in bomb shelters as the missile strikes continued.

The situation remains tense, with both countries on high alert amid fears of further escalation.
