Former military personnel dies after torture by pro-Taliban commander’s forces: Sources

A former military officer has died after being tortured by forces loyal to Abdul Hameed Khorasani, a pro-Taliban commander, sources told Amu on Thursday.

The victim, Esmatullah Noori, had been working as a shopkeeper since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, sources added.

Noori, a resident of Aftabchi village in Hesa-e Dowom Kohistan district of Kapisa province, was reportedly arrested by Khorasani’s forces without cause from the Shahrak Telai area in Kabul’s Police District 17.

According to sources, after being beaten by Khorasani’s men, Noori suffered a heart attack that led to his death.

Khorasani currently serves as the head of the Entrepreneurship Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry under the Taliban government.

The Taliban has yet to comment on the incident, but sources say that two of Khorasani’s men involved in the arrest have been detained by the Taliban’s PD17 police unit.
