Body of 39-year-old man found in Bamiyan Province

The body of a 39-year-old man, identified as Ghulam Mahdi, was discovered in the Khawal area of Bamiyan province, according to a Taliban statement.

His body has been sent to forensic authorities for further investigation, though the cause of death remains unclear.

The Taliban governor’s office in Bamiyan said in a statement said that there were no visible signs of violence or torture on Mahdi’s body. His family has reported that he had no known enemies.

The body was found by a local resident, who then alerted the Taliban.

This discovery comes amid rising concerns over security in central Afghanistan. Last week, a group of Hazara citizens in neighboring Daikundi province were targeted by armed assailants. Witnesses told Amu TV that two men on motorcycles, who claimed to be members of the Taliban, opened fire on the group, killing 14 people.

However, ISIS later claimed responsibility for the attack, asserting that 15 people were killed and six others wounded. The Taliban have yet to provide further details.
