Turkey condemns attack on Hazaras in Daikundi as ‘heinous’

Turkey’s Foreign Ministry has issued a strong condemnation of thursday’s attack on Hazaras in Afghanistan’s Daikundi province, calling the incident “heinous”.

“We are saddened by the loss of lives and injuries caused by the terrorist attack today (13 September) in Daikundi province of Afghanistan,” the statement read.

The attack, which claimed the lives of at least 14 people and left four others wounded, targeted Hazara pilgrims returning from Karbala, Iraq. Daesh Khorasan has claimed responsibility for the assault, which has prompted widespread condemnation from the international community.

The incident has reignited concerns over the safety of Afghanistan’s minority populations under the current regime.
