ISIS claims responsibility for Kabul bombing

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack outside the Taliban-run Attorney General’s Office in Kabul on Monday, according to a statement released by the group.

In the statement, ISIS claimed that more than 45 people, including Taliban members, were killed or wounded in the suicide bombing.

The group stated that the attacker waited near the main gate for employees to exit before detonating his explosive vest.

ISIS further claimed that the attack was carried out in retaliation for the treatment of Muslim prisoners held by the Taliban, particularly following their transfer to the notorious Bagram prison, evoking memories of the U.S. era and its actions against detainees.

In contrast, the Taliban’s Ministry of Interior reported a lower casualty toll, stating that six people were killed and 13 others were injured in the attack.
