Afghanistan’s national futsal team secured a narrow 5-4 victory over Guatemala in the Continental Futsal Championship on Monday in Bangkok, Thailand.
The match, which took place on Monday afternoon (Kabul time), saw the teams tied 1-1 at the end of the first half. Afghanistan managed to pull ahead in the second half, ultimately clinching the win with a final score of 5-4.
Afghanistan is set to face Kuwait on Tuesday, followed by matches against Australia on Wednesday and Thailand on Friday.
The tournament, which began on August 29, features teams from Afghanistan, Thailand, Guatemala, New Zealand, and Kuwait. The competition will run through September 6.
In addition to their performance in Bangkok, Afghanistan has also secured a spot in the 2024 Futsal World Cup, which will be hosted by Uzbekistan starting on September 14.
