Mine explosion in Nangarhar kills six people

KABUL, Afghanistan — A mine explosion in Nangarhar Province in the east of the country on Thursday killed six people, including five children, according to a Taliban spokesman.

Abdul Basir Zabuli, the Taliban spokesperson for Nangarhar’s police command, said the explosion occurred in the Darah-e-Noor district when a vehicle struck a hidden mine in the village of Kondak.

The incident took place around noon on Thursday, August 22.

Zabuli reported that the victims, all residents of Nuristan Province, were teachers and students from a religious school.

They were traveling to Darah-e-Noor for religious education when the explosion occurred, he said.
