Iran executes 20, including four Afghan nationals

The Iranian government executed at least 20 individuals, including four Afghan nationals, on Wednesday, according to the Hengaw Human Rights Organization.

The watchdog reported that those executed were convicted of drug-related crimes, premeditated murder, and rape. The executions took place at Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj.

“Four Afghan citizens were executed simultaneously. Three were accused of rape and one of premeditated murder,” Hengaw stated.

The organization noted that it has identified 11 of the executed prisoners.

Kazim Gharib Abadi, an Iranian judiciary official, recently disclosed that nearly 95 percent of foreign prisoners in Iran are Afghan citizens.
