Sources in Panjshir reported on Wednesday that at least 20 former police officers from the previous government, who are residents of Panjshir, have been dismissed by the Taliban’s provincial police command.

According to these sources, Taliban has ordered these officers to either resign or surrender a firearm. Many have been unable to comply with this demand, sources added.

The sources said that this process is ongoing.

Taliban has not commented on these dismissals.

According to multiple United Nations reports, Taliban has been involved in numerous extrajudicial killings, imprisonments, and acts of torture against former military personnel over the past three years.
