The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said Wednesday that Canada has contributed $2.2 million to Afghanistan’s humanitarian fund.
In a message posted on X, OCHA stated that this amount is equivalent to three million Canadian dollars.
With this latest contribution, Canada has provided a total of 15.8 million Canadian dollars to Afghanistan’s humanitarian fund since 2019, according to OCHA.
Taliban’s rule and their imposition of restrictive policies on the fundamental rights and freedoms of women and girls have hindered the delivery of aid and services to Afghanistan.
The Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction has reported that Washington has allocated almost $21 billion in aid to Afghanistan and Afghan refugees over the past three years.
