Tent camp in Gaza’s Deir Al-Balah hit by airstrike, authorities say 4 killed

A tent camp for displaced people in central Gaza was struck by Israeli airstrikes early Sunday, resulting in the deaths of four Palestinians and injuries to dozens more, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Witnesses reported seeing people battling fires at the camp, located near Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir Al-Balah.

Clad in t-shirts and singlets, groups of men were seen throwing buckets of water and using fire extinguishers to combat the sizable flames.

The health ministry stated that the tent camp shelters hundreds of thousands of Palestinians.

Gaza health officials reported that at least 39,550 Palestinians have been killed in the ongoing Israeli military campaign in Gaza. The offensive was triggered by a Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on October 7, which resulted in 1,200 deaths and 250 abductions, according to Israeli authorities.
