Amidst a surge in traffic accidents across the country, a tragic incident in the central province of Kapisa on Wednesday claimed the lives of five people and injured three others, according to the Taliban’s provincial police command.
The accident occurred in Dara Koti village in the Alasay district.
The Taliban’s statement indicated that the accident was caused by the overturning of a minivan.
At least 64 people have died in traffic accidents in various parts of the country in July 2024 alone, marking an unprecedented spike in such incidents.
Officials from the Taliban-controlled traffic department have previously attributed most of these accidents to driver negligence and high-speed driving.
