Iran bans foreign property purchases using others’ names

TEHRAN, Iran — Iran’s Interior Minister, Vahid Ahmadi, announced that property purchases in Iran by foreign nationals using the names of others are illegal.

Without specifying any particular country, Ahmadi told ILNA news agency, “Property purchases by foreign nationals are subject to regulations, which we currently do not have in place. Therefore, property purchases in the name of a foreign national are currently irrelevant. Some individuals may have done this in others’ names, which is illegal.”

He noted that surveillance of migrants in Iran has increased, and a significant number of unauthorized foreign nationals have been deported.

“This process is ongoing,” Ahmadi emphasized. “Any foreign nationals in the country without proper authorization must be returned. This is also true for Tehran. We inform foreign nationals from neighboring countries that those without permits must return, and those with permits must comply strictly with the terms of their authorization.”

This warning comes amid statistics from Iran’s Immigration Office, indicating that a large portion of illegal migrants in the country are Afghan citizens.
