Journalist Hamidullah Hairan detained by Taliban for five months, relatives say

Hamidullah Hairan, a journalist with Arzasht Radio Television, has been detained by the Taliban for around five months, relatives confirmed to Amu.

Hairan’s family has expressed deep concern over his detention, stating they have no information about his whereabouts. They believe he was taken by the Taliban’s intelligence department.

The Taliban has not commented on Hairan’s arrest.

Since returning to power, the Taliban has detained dozens of journalists and civil rights activists. Amnesty International recently reiterated on social media platform X that the Taliban must respect and protect human rights.
