Taliban claims killing Daesh member in Nangarhar

KABUL, Afghanistan — Taliban said in a statement that it killed a Daesh member named Abu Shir in the eastern province of Nangarhar on Sunday.

Taliban claimed that Abu Shir was killed on Sunday during an operation in the Mohmand Dara district of Nangarhar.

According to Taliban statement, Abu Shir was a resident of Achin district in Nangarhar and served as a “military commander” for ISIS.

This assertion comes despite the Taliban’s repeated denials of ISIS presence in Afghanistan, insisting that the group has no “physical presence” in the country.
