UNICEF supports treatment for 234,200 malnourished children in Afghanistan

The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) reported that it has supported the treatment of at least 234,200 children suffering from severe acute malnutrition in Afghanistan in 2024.

The UN children’s agency also provided 314,000 people with access to safe drinking water in the country. “602,000 children vaccinated against measles,” the organization noted on X.

Earlier, the World Food Program revealed that 12 million people in Afghanistan are facing severe food insecurity. It also reported that more than three million children in Afghanistan are malnourished.

Due to budget constraints, the organization stated that it can only assist one in every three children in need.
