Taliban seizes major residential township in Kabul

KABUL, Afghanistan — The Taliban-run Justice Ministry reported on Wednesday that it has seized a residential township, claiming it was built on illegal land.

The township, belonging to an Afghan investor Najeeb Zarab, was established in 2016.

It spans 274 acres in Paghman district, with parts extending into the Company area in western Kabul.

Numerous complexes and buildings constructed by ordinary citizens are located within the township.

Taliban stated that the case was investigated by a special court.

Due to the Taliban’s land reclamation efforts, thousands of people across the country have been forced to vacate their homes. Many residents have complained that they are in deteriorating economic conditions and cannot afford to build new houses.
