Special envoys from 15 countries attend meeting with Afghan civil society in Doha

DOHA, Qatar — Special representatives from 15 countries participated in a meeting between United Nations officials and members of Afghan civil society, including women, on Tuesday after the two days of the Doha summit.

According to a source, the meeting included special representatives from Canada, Kazakhstan, Japan, Norway, Switzerland, the United States, France, Saudi Arabia, Italy, South Korea, Iran, Germany, Turkey, Indonesia, and the United Kingdom. The European Union’s special representative also attended.

Seven Afghan civil society representatives took part in the meeting, with four joining remotely, and majority of them were to women, a source said.

The source confirmed the participation of Zahra Bahman, Atif Mashal, and Qadeem Wiyar from Afghanistan.

The meeting began on Tuesday morning and is expected to conclude shortly.

The Doha summit, held on Sunday and Monday, saw the attendance of special representatives from 25 countries and five organizations.
