Israeli strikes kill at least 42 in Gaza, officials say

At least 42 people were killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza City on Saturday, according to the Hamas-run government media office.

The director, Ismail Al-Thawabta, reported that an Israeli strike on houses in Al-Shati refugee camp killed 24 people, while another 18 were killed in Al-Tuffah neighborhood.

The Israeli military stated that its fighter jets targeted two Hamas military sites in Gaza City and promised to release more details soon. Hamas did not comment on the Israeli claims but accused Israel of targeting civilians.

In a statement, Hamas vowed that “the occupation and its Nazi leaders will pay the price for their violations against our people.” Footage obtained by Reuters showed Palestinians searching for victims amid the rubble in the Shati refugee camp, with scenes of destroyed homes, blasted walls, and debris filling the streets.
