KABUL, Afghanistan — The Taliban-run meteorological department on Saturday warned of heavy rainfall and potential floods in seven of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces.
In a statement, the department predicted heavy rainfall with flash floods in Samangan, Parwan, Maidan Wardak, Logar, Nangarhar, Bamiyan, and Kabul provinces on Saturday and Sunday. The rainfall is expected to be between 15 to 25 millimeters.
These warnings come as local Taliban officials reported on Saturday that residents of Bamiyan province have already suffered heavy financial losses due to recent floods that affected two districts.
