ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the country has witnessed a surge in “terrorist incidents orchestrated from Afghan soil.”
The statement alleged that these “terrorists from Afghanistan attempted to infiltrate through the Pakistan-Afghanistan border” to target Pakistani security forces and civilians.
The ISPR revealed that Pakistani security forces have been conducting operations along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the general area of Sambaza in Zhob District, Balochistan, since April 21.
According to the ISPR, at least 29 terrorists have been “successfully neutralized” by Pakistani security forces in the past month. The statement also noted that Pakistani officer Babar Khan was killed on May 14 during an intelligence operation in the “same series.”
Pakistan has once again urged the Taliban to “ensure effective border management on their side of the border” and prevent the use of Afghan soil by terrorists to carry out acts of terrorism against Pakistan.
Relations between Pakistan and the Taliban have recently deteriorated, with Pakistani officials accusing the Taliban of supporting the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), an insurgent group that has claimed attacks on Pakistani security forces.
