The Taliban’s Foreign Ministry in a statement on Sunday declared Iran’s recent attack on Israel a “legitimate defensive action.”
Taliban described Israel’s earlier assault in Damascus as “contrary to diplomatic norms and international laws.”
The statement also called on global nations to “intensify their efforts to halt the crimes of the Zionist regime and prevent further crisis escalation.”
Iran launched hundreds of missiles and drones toward Israel on Saturday night.
The Israeli military announced on Sunday that it had intercepted 99% of the more than 300 drones and missiles fired by Iran.
Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari told the media that the Israeli forces are prepared for operations and are reviewing next steps.
He described the situation as “very grave,” noting that the attack, which began late Saturday, was Iran’s first direct strike on Israeli soil and significantly heightened regional tensions.
