The Israeli military said Sunday that it intercepted 99% of more than 300 drones and missiles launched by Iran overnight.
Israel military spokesman Daniel Hagari said in a televised briefing that they are fully operational and considering further actions.
Describing the situation as “very grave,” Hagari noted that the attack, which began late Saturday, marks Iran’s first direct assault on Israeli territory and significantly escalates regional tensions.
“Last night, Iran initiated an attack and launched over 300 different threats. Thanks to our aerial and technological superiority, along with a strong coalition, we intercepted 99% of those aimed at our territory—a significant strategic achievement,” he explained.
Jordan, positioned between Iran and Israel, activated its air defenses as a precaution, according to two regional security sources.
U.S. and British aircraft reportedly assisted in downing several drones directed at Israel over the Iraq-Syria border, as covered by Israel’s Channel 12.
