Israel reports over 200 drones, missiles launched by Iran; one girl injured

Israel’s chief military spokesman Daniel Hagari, reported that Iran has launched more than 200 drones and missiles at Israel since Saturday, April 13. Speaking early Sunday, Hagari noted on television that while many of the incoming threats were intercepted at the border, the barrage was still continuing.

He stated that a few Iranian ground-to-ground missiles had breached Israeli defenses, injuring a girl and causing minor damage to a military installation in southern Israel.

“The Iranian attack is ongoing. Our planes are in the air. Tonight, wide scale attack by Iran is a major escalation. Together with our allies and partners we are operating at full force to defend the State of Israel and the people of Israel. We will continue to fulfil this mission,” Hagari said.

The intense onslaught began late Saturday with Iran deploying a large number of explosive drones and firing missiles in what marks its first direct assault on Israeli soil. This attack seems to be in retaliation for an alleged Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus on April 1, which killed seven members of the Guards. The incident has heightened tensions, with the United States expressing its “ironclad” support for Israel.
