Former U.S. President Donald Trump campaigned in Iowa on Tuesday following a Colorado Supreme Court decision barring him from the state’s 2024 presidential election ballot.
The court ruled Trump ineligible due to his involvement in the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. Speaking in Iowa, the first state to select a Republican candidate in January, Trump labeled President Joe Biden a “threat to democracy.”
Trump, leading the Republican field, continued his controversial rhetoric on undocumented immigrants, which has been criticized as xenophobic and likened to Nazi language. He countered these comparisons, claiming he has never read Adolf Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” and asserting that Hitler’s use of language was different.
With strong favoritism to win the Iowa caucuses, Trump urged supporters to vote on January 15, acknowledging the possibility of unexpected outcomes in the state’s political history.
