Pakistan’s caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has penned a letter to his Taliban counterpart, Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund, underlining the importance of collaborative efforts to achieve shared objectives.
The letter comes amid escalating tensions between the neighboring nations due to an increase in cross-border militant incidents.
In his letter, Kakar emphasized the close and fraternal relationship between Pakistan and Afghanistan, rooted in shared religion, culture, and history.
“Pakistan has close fraternal relations with Afghanistan as we are neighbors and brothers. Pakistan-Afghanistan relations are rooted in religion, culture and history,” Kakar said.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to bolstering bilateral ties in the realm of politics, security, and economics.
In an interview with Voice of America Urdu on Saturday, Kakar dismissed the notion that the Taliban government in Afghanistan was unresponsive to Pakistan.
“I don’t think that there is a perception that the Taliban was not listening to Pakistan, neither there is any such thing Pakistan has some special demand related to the Taliban,” he said.
The caretaker prime minister also highlighted Pakistan’s active role in fostering enduring peace in Afghanistan and the broader region.
Kakar said that Pakistan remains engaged with the Afghan Taliban and the international community on relevant issues.
