A young man was killed in an apparent armed robbery near his home in eastern Nangarhar province, local sources said on Saturday.
The attack occurred on Friday night in the Qala-e-Sheikh village of Chaparhar district, about 30 meters from the victim’s home, according to the sources.
The assailants attacked and killed the man before taking 12,500 Pakistani rupees, his mobile phone and identity card, the sources said.
The circumstances of the killing remain unclear. Local sources said the victim’s family had no known personal disputes or feuds that might have provided another motive for the attack.
Taliban have not commented on the killing or said whether any suspects have been identified or detained.
Some residents say robberies and similar violent incidents have increased recently in parts of Nangarhar.
