Speenghar Region earned its first victory of the 2026 Regional List A Tournament on Thursday, defeating Amo Region by 24 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method in a rain-shortened match in Nangarhar.

The result was largely shaped by an outstanding bowling performance from Yamin Ahmadzai, who took 6 wickets for 33 runs to help dismiss Amo for 176.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Amo struggled against Ahmadzai’s pace bowling. Sharafuddin Ashraf top-scored with 54 runs, while Mohammad Ishaq added 48, but the side was bowled out before reaching a competitive total.

Speenghar had reached 84 for 2 in reply when poor light interrupted play. Rain later prevented the match from resuming, handing Speenghar a 24-run victory under the Duckworth-Lewis calculation.

The win gave Speenghar its first two points of the tournament.

Ahmadzai was named Player of the Match for his six-wicket haul, one of the tournament’s best bowling performances so far.

The Regional List A Tournament continued on Friday, when Bost Region faced Band-e-Amir Region in the sixth match of the competition.
