Residents in the central provinces of Panjshir and Parwan say unidentified drones have been flying overhead for about a week, with sightings reported mainly in the early morning hours.
Several residents told Amu TV that drones had been seen over the districts of Rukha, Khenj and Darah in Panjshir. They said the drones were sometimes flying at low altitude and that their noise was clearly audible.
“We often hear them in the morning and sometimes at night,” said one resident. “Their movement has increased recently, and we do not know where they are coming from.”
Another resident said the drones were unfamiliar and had not been seen in the area before, adding that their presence had caused concern among local people.
At the same time, residents in neighbouring Parwan province also reported sightings of unidentified drones in recent days, according to local sources.
Spokesman for Taliban governor in Panjshir in a conversation with Amu TV denied that any drones were operating over the province.
Panjshir has previously been the focus of reports of unidentified aircraft activity. Taliban officials have in the past said they do not have full control over Afghanistan’s airspace, while providing little public comment on such sightings.
