Afghanistan’s national under-19 cricket team arrived in has Dhaka ahead of a five-match Youth One Day International (YODI) series against Bangladesh, set to begin later this month.

The team touched down in the Bangladeshi capital on Monday and will immediately begin a week-long conditioning camp before facing the host U19 side in the opening match on October 28 in Bogura. The series, which runs through November 9, is seen as a vital step in Afghanistan’s preparations for the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026, to be co-hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia.

According to the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), the tour includes matches scheduled for October 28 and 31 in Bogura, followed by three more games on November 3, 6, and 9 at the RDS Cricket Ground in Rajshahi.

“This series will play a crucial role in preparing our U19 squad for the upcoming World Cup and could well unearth promising talents who may later advance to higher levels, including the A team and the senior national side,” said Naseeb Khan, CEO of the ACB.

The Afghan squad recently concluded a series of high-intensity training camps in Nangarhar and Khost provinces. Over the past three months, players focused on physical conditioning, technical drills, and match simulations aimed at improving cohesion and game-readiness.

The Afghanistan Future Stars, as they are widely known, see this tour as an opportunity to gain valuable international experience and test their mettle against a strong Bangladeshi youth side.

This tour follows their previous international engagement in Bangladesh and comes ahead of another Tri-Series in India next month, as part of a broader strategy to enhance performance through regular competition and exposure.
