Over 400 killed in Israel’s new bombing campaign in Gaza

GAZA CITY — Over 400 people have been killed and 562 others wounded as Israel launched a large-scale bombing campaign on Gaza early Tuesday, breaking a fragile ceasefire with Hamas that had been in place since late January, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.

An Israeli official, speaking on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly, said the “series of preemptive strikes” targeted Hamas leadership and infrastructure, following weeks of stalled ceasefire negotiations.

As the fighting resumed, Gazans described their fear and shock.

“I cannot believe that the war is back again,” one resident said as quoted by The Washington Post.
