KABUL, Afghanistan — A collision on the Kabul-Kandahar highway left four people dead and 10 others injured, Taliban officials said Friday.
The crash occurred in the Zarny Dasht-e-Top area of Sayedabad district when a bus collided with a minivan, according to Yousuf Israr, a spokesman for the Taliban’s police command in Maidan Wardak Province.
Among the dead was one woman, while three women were among the injured, Taliban said. No official cause for the accident has been provided.
Traffic accidents are common in Afghanistan, where poorly maintained roads, lack of traffic regulations, and reckless driving contribute to frequent crashes. Taliban-run traffic authorities reported last month that more than 3,000 accidents have occurred across the country in the past 10 months.
