At least 648 Afghan migrant families were deported or repatriated from Iran and Pakistan last week, according to data compiled by Amu TV from Taliban-run Bakhtar News Agency reports.

Iran expelled 446 families, while Pakistan deported 202 families—some forcibly and others voluntarily—during the period, the reports indicated.

According to the data, 119 families returned to Afghanistan through the Torkham border crossing, while another 83 entered via Spin Boldak. An additional 171 families crossed from Iran at the Pul-e-Abrisham border in Nimroz, while 275 entered through the Islam Qala border.

The deportations come as Iran and Pakistan have intensified their detention and expulsion of Afghan migrants in recent weeks.

Some Afghan migrants in both countries have reported harassment, beatings, and humiliation by local authorities.

On Wednesday, a refugee rights organization warned that Afghan migrants in Iran, Turkey, and Tajikistan face increasing threats of detention and deportation, as well as reports of violence by security forces.

The Mixed Migration Centre (MMC), in its latest report, said that Afghans across multiple neighboring countries—including Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Turkey—have endured worsening conditions and crackdowns over the past quarter, further highlighting their vulnerability in the region.
