Afghan exiled politicians meet with Global Peace Foundation in Ankara

ANKARA — Senior members of Afghanistan’s National Resistance Council met with representatives of the Global Peace Foundation in Ankara in recent days to discuss the country’s political future and prospects for stability, according to sources familiar with the meeting.

The talks, which focused on peace negotiations and Afghanistan’s long-term trajectory, included key figures from the resistance council, among them Abdul Rashid Dostum, Mohammad Almas Zahid, Mohammad Mohaqiq, and Abdul Basir Anwar.

A delegation from the Global Peace Foundation, representing both the United States and the European Union, also attended.

Sources identified the foundation’s representatives as Kimberly Lowe and Aziz Sadat.

While details of the discussions have not been made public, sources said the two sides emphasized the need for international cooperation in addressing Afghanistan’s ongoing crisis and called for sustained global support for the Afghan people.
