Taliban report reclaiming over 13,000 hectares of seized land

The Taliban-led Ministry of Justice said Monday that it has reclaimed 13,045 hectares of state-owned land across 11 provinces of the country in the past month.

The reclaimed lands, according to the ministry, were identified, verified, and handed over to the relevant authorities.

Ghazni province accounted for the largest share, with 4,657 hectares of land reclaimed during this period.

In addition to the reclaimed lands, the Taliban claimed to have identified more than 29,358 hectares of state-owned land in 18 provinces over the past month. They also stated that 92,641 hectares of land in 26 other provinces are currently under review.

The Taliban-run Ministry of Justice emphasized that efforts to investigate, verify, and reclaim state-owned lands are ongoing nationwide.

The Taliban’s campaign to reclaim usurped land is part of broader efforts to assert control over state resources and address longstanding disputes over land ownership in Afghanistan. However, the process has drawn scrutiny from critics who question the transparency of the initiative and its impact on local communities.
