Afghanistan’s U-17 team qualifies for 2025 Asian Cup

Afghanistan’s under-17 national soccer team secured a spot in the 2025 Asian Cup after a decisive 3-1 victory over Cambodia on Friday, marking a historic milestone for Afghan youth soccer.

Afghanistan opened the scoring in the first half with a goal from Yasser Safi, setting the team on a strong course. Additional goals from Waris Shirzai and Arash Ahmadi solidified the win, with all three players making key contributions to the victory.

The Afghanistan Football Federation celebrated the achievement, calling it a “historic qualification” for the under-17 team in the prestigious Asian Cup tournament.

The game took place in Cambodia, which also hosted Afghanistan’s earlier matches in the qualifying rounds. In these matches, the Afghan team defeated the Philippines 8-0 and Macau 9-0, showcasing the strength and promise of Afghanistan’s young players as they advance to the continental championship.
