Ex-soldier killed in gunmen attack in Faryab: Sources

Khairullah, a former member of Afghanistan’s security forces under the previous government, was killed by two gunmen in Maimana, the capital of the northern province of Faryab, on Monday morning, according to local sources.

The attackers, who were riding a motorbike, struck about one kilometer from the Taliban-run Police District 1 in Maimana, the sources said.

Khairullah, a resident of Tilan village in Pashtun Kot district of Faryab, was fatally shot in the attack.

The motive behind the killing remains unclear, and the Taliban has not yet commented on the incident.
