Nine killed in fire at Iranian hospital

TEHRAN — At least nine people were killed after a fire broke out at a private hospital in Rasht, Iran, early Tuesday morning, according to state media.

The fire started around 1:30 a.m. at Qaim Hospital, Iran’s IRNA news agency reported. At the time, 142 patients were present in the hospital, all of whom were evacuated to other facilities.

Mohammad Taqi Ashobi, head of Gilan Hospital, stated that 97 patients from Qaim Hospital are currently being treated at Gilan and other hospitals.
