Iran suspends trade with Afghanistan, Pakistan for Eid

Iran will halt the import of goods from Afghanistan and Pakistan for one week in observance of Eid, an Iranian customs officer announced.

Mohammad Ali Khashi, an official from Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan customs office, urged traders to refrain from transporting shipments to the border during this period. “From Saturday, June 15, to Thursday, June 20, the customs offices at Saravan, Mirjaveh, and Milak will be closed for service,” he stated.

Iran has become a significant trade partner for Afghanistan since the Taliban came to power. The spokesman for the Taliban-run Ministry of Industry and Trade previously revealed that bilateral trade between the two nations reached $2.25 billion in the 1402 fiscal year (March 21, 2023, to March 19, 2024).
