KABUL, Afghanistan — The Taliban confirmed on Friday the arrest of Kabul-based YouTuber Humayun Afghan, stating the action was taken following a woman’s complaint.
Khalid Zadran, spokesman for the Taliban’s security command in Kabul, reported on X that Afghan was arrested for publishing a video featuring a woman “without her permission,” which led to her lodging a complaint against him.
Sources indicate that four of Afghan’s colleagues were also detained by the Taliban in Kabul on Thursday, alongside Afghan himself.
Hours after his detainment, Taliban police command spokesman Zadran said Afghan and his colleagues were released.
