The Taliban reopened the Tourism Institute in Kabul at a ceremony on Saturday.
Founded in September 2013 by the Ministry of Information and Culture of the former government, the institute embarked on directly admitting students through entrance exams after 2019.
It focused on training young individuals in tourism guidance and hotel management, areas halted with the government’s fall.
At a conference celebrating the institute’s revival, Khairullah Khairkhwah, the Taliban’s Minister of Information and Culture, touted Afghanistan as “suitable” for welcoming tourists.
This comes as Afghanistan was placed by the Institute of Economics and Peace as the least stable nation globally among 163 countries in last year’s global peace ranking.
