The death toll from Thursday’s attack in Kandahar, southern Afghanistan, has risen to 27, with the number of wounded increasing to 43, according to sources from the province.
A suicide bomber detonated explosives among civilians in front of the New Kabul Bank in Kandahar’s capital.
Daesh has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) condemned the violence, emphasizing that such attacks, especially during Ramadan, are intolerable.
“Such abhorrent acts, whether during Ramadan or at any other time, should have no place in Afghanistan,” UNAMA stated on the social media platform X.
