Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Turkmenistan Foreign Minister Raşit Meredow during his visit to Turkmenistan.
They discussed bilateral relations, enhancing diplomatic ties in Ashgabat, and progress on the TAPI pipeline project, as well as Turkmenistan’s investment, according to a Taliban foreign ministry statement.
The statement said Muttaqi urged Turkmen officials to facilitate visas and support trade and transport personnel from Afghanistan. He expressed hope for the prompt commencement of the TAPI project on Afghan soil.
Turkmenistan is set to host a meeting of five countries involved in the Lapis Lazuli Route initiative soon, the statement noted.
Muttaqi also called for Turkmen investment in the Torghondi-Herat and Andkhoi-Shabarghan railway projects up to Mazar-e-Sharif.
The statement highlighted Turkmenistan’s readiness to offer educational scholarships to Afghan students in electricity, railway, transport, and gas sectors.
