Mohammad Shafayi, a 28-year-old Afghan refugee residing in Islamabad, Pakistan, died by suicide, according to Pakistani police.
Sources close to the situation informed Amu that Shafayi had been awaiting the outcome of his asylum application to a Western country. He reportedly faced significant psychological pressure due to prolonged delays in his asylum case processing.
Following the collapse of Afghanistan’s former government, thousands of Afghans fled to neighboring countries, including Pakistan. Many sought asylum in Western nations, driven by security concerns under Taliban rule.
