Sar-e-Pul emerged victorious in this year’s Afghanistan Buzkashi League, defeating defending champions Samangan 3-1 in a gripping final match on Friday.
The decisive game, held in Kabul, saw both teams tied at 1-1 at halftime, before Sar-e-Pul clinched the win. Samangan had previously won the league title last year.
The league’s semifinals featured four teams: Kandahar, Kunduz, Samangan, and Sar-e-Pul, following intense quarterfinal matches.
Celebrating its fifth year, the Afghanistan Buzkashi League began on Dec. 25 and concluded on Jan. 5. This season’s league showcased 12 teams from various provinces, competing in four groups in Kabul.
