In a commanding performance on Tuesday, Pakistan’s U19 cricket team secured a spot in the semi-finals of the U19 Asia Cup 2023 by defeating Afghanistan with an impressive 83-run margin in the United Arab Emirates.
Pakistan set a formidable target of 304 runs, posting a total of 303 against Afghanistan in the U19 Asia Cup 2023 match. The batting display was anchored by half-centuries from openers Shamyl Hussain, Shahzaib Khan, and Riaz Ullah, who scored 75, 79, and 73 respectively.
Afghanistan faced a challenging chase but could only manage 220 runs in 48.4 overs, falling short by 83 runs. Pakistan’s bowlers, Ubaid Shah and Tayyab Arif, played a crucial role by taking three wickets each.
This victory marked Pakistan’s third consecutive win in the tournament, solidifying their position as Group A table-toppers and earning them a spot in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, India rebounded from their previous defeat against Pakistan, delivering a dominant performance against Nepal. India’s Raj Limbani stood out, picking up 7 wickets for just 13 runs as Nepal was bowled out for a mere 52 runs in 22.1 overs.
India’s openers, Adarsh Singh and Arshin Kulkarni, then quickly secured their semi-final berth with a 57-run partnership in just 7.1 overs, leading India to a convincing 10-wicket victory over Nepal.
