Fire, smoke emerge at Israel-Lebanon border amid ongoing conflict

Fires raged and plumes of smoke billowed from the border region between Israel and Lebanon on Thursday morning (October 26). There are growing concerns that the persistent conflict in the area might extend its reach.

The outbreak of violence flared at Israel’s northern flashpoint border with Lebanon when conflict erupted over Gaza on October 7. This was a result of the Palestinian group Hamas, which is an ally of Hezbollah, launching a devastating raid on Israeli territory.

On Thursday morning, fires were observed burning at the border; however, Reuters could not promptly confirm the source of these fires.
